What is Fraxel Laser Treatment (FLT)?
Fraxel® Laser Treatment (FLT) is a "fractional" treatment that produces thousands of deep, tiny columns in your skin, called microscopic treatment zones. FLT is "fractional" in that it intensively treats old epidermal pigment cells without affecting any of the surrounding tissue, which reduces healing time and promotes the skin's natural process for creating new, healthier tissue to replace the damaged cells.
How is Fraxel laser different from other laser treatments?
Before Fraxel laser treatment, there were two types of available laser treatments. Bulk ablative laser treatment involves vaporization of entire layers of skin cells at very high temperature. This treatment is very effective but is associated with a high incidence of side effects and typically requires a lengthy healing period. The other previously available laser treatment, bulk non-ablative laser treatment, can have a lower incidence of side effects and little healing time, but requires numerous treatments over many months and has widely variable results. Fraxel treatments strive to offer the effectiveness of ablative lasers with the benefits of the gentler, non-ablative lasers.
How does Fraxel laser work?
FLT is designed to target aging and sun damaged skin by targeting portions of specific damaged tissue. By creating microscopic "wounds" within the targeted areas well beneath the outer most epidermal layer of skin, Fraxel Laser treatments trigger the body's natural healing process accelerating the production of collagen and new, healthy skin cells.
What are the benefits of Fraxel Laser Treatments?
FLT has the impact of ablative lasers but the gentler benefits of the non-ablative treatments. Healing time is significantly accelerated so there is minimal downtime. Because the Fraxel Laser penetrates the non-living outer layer of skin leaving it completely intact, make-up can be worn immediately following the procedure. Some patients are able to return to routine activities, including work and social obligations, the same day of treatment. Others require a little more time, depending upon their skin condition and treatment. Please consult your physician to understand how Fraxel Laser Treatment will fit into your schedule.
What are the risks of Fraxel Laser Treatments?
Swelling and redness are the most common side effects from treatment. If swelling does occur, it is minimal and will subside within a day or two. Redness may occur and will fade within a few days. There is a very limited risk of infection or scarring.
How many treatments will I need?
Clinical studies suggest that on average, an effective treatment regimen is 3 to 5 sessions, spaced about 2 to 4 weeks apart. Depending upon your condition and schedule, you and your physician may choose to space treatment sessions even further apart. Results are immediate and progressive. Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 2 to 3 months. This time frame and treatment structure allows for complete healing and replacement of damaged tissue with new collagen and elastin, and viable healthy skin cell growth.
How are Fraxel Laser Treatments performed?
To prepare your skin for treatment, it will be cleansed. A topical anesthetic ointment is applied to the treatment area approximately 60 minutes prior to treatment in order for the anesthetic to take full effect. The procedure takes between 20 to 25 minutes for a full face. The anesthetic ointment is washed off immediately after the treatment.
Is Fraxel Laser Treatment painful?
Most patients describe the treatment as having a "prickling" sensation. The topical anesthetic ointment and air cooling alleviates most discomfort.
What should I expect after Fraxel Laser Treatment?
During the first 24 hours after treatment, your skin may feel as though it is sunburned, and it will appear pink or red. Make-up can be worn to reduce the sunburned appearance. Your skin will naturally bronze over the next week or two. As you continue treatment, the sunburned to bronze conditions will repeat. Just like a natural sunburn, your skin will flake and exfoliate normally. Using a moisturizer will help reduce the appearance of dry flakes.
What precautions should I take after treatment?
Wearing sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher twice a day is especially important. Avoid direct sun exposure during the healing process and for at least 3 months after treatment. Wearing wide brimmed hats is highly recommended when out in the elements.
What is the Fraxel skin ecology system and where can I purchase it?
The Fraxel Skin Ecology System is a unique line of skincare products designed specifically to enhance and extend the benefits of Fraxel treatment. Made with natural healing ingredients, this comprehensive regimen moisturizes, soothes and protects your skin - immediately following the procedure and long after. This is available exclusively from Fraxel physicians.

About Botox
(These images are of an actual patient) |
Botox is an FDA approved purified protein naturally derived from the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum Type A. It has been used for more than 20 years to reduce unwanted muscle activity, and is considered safe and effective. Botox is used to block the nerve impluses that tell muscles to move. Revealing a fresh, healthy, you. Botox is used to treat wrinkles that are found when you make facial expressions. We offer Botox on a daily basis, unlike most physicians that only offer the procedure on a weekly or monthly basis.
(These images are of an actual patient) |
Frequently asked questions about Botox:
What is the cause of wrinkles and facial expression lines?
As noted above, lines and wrinkles develop, at least in part, from the action of facial muscles under the skin. After years, furrows may remain along these facial expression lines even without any active facial muscle expression. The development of these lines is promoted by years of sun exposure, and to from these facial muscles. Botox? is capable of preventing the unwanted facial expression lines and improves or blends the wrinkles that were visable while the muscles were at rest.
How does Botox work?
Botox acts by immobilizing the muscle, at treated sites. It does this by inhibiting contraction of the targeted muscles. Only those muscles producing these undesirable lines are treated.
What areas can you use Botox for?
Frown lines between the eyebrows, crow's feet lines and forehead wrinkles are effectively treated with the BOTOX. The treatment takes a few minutes and the BOTOX takes effect in three to four days. Patients return to work or other activities immediately after treatment.
Does the Botox Injection hurt?
When BOTOX is injected there is a minor sting for a few seconds. Once the injection is complete, there is usually no discomfort. Most patients report mild discomfort that subsides within a minute.
What kind of facial lines does it remove?
Prominent facial expression lines, especially horizontal lines on the forehead, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and crow's feet are most dramatically improved with treatment.
How does Botox compare to other products such as collagen and filler materials?
Unlike filler materials, Botox treats the underlying cause of the facial expression lines. Filler materials, such as Restylane, plump up the skin. Although fillers reduce the appearance of lines when there is no facial expression, the moment the person does smile or frown, the lines reappear. Botox actually prevents the unwanted lines from appearing with facial expression and often even at rest. These two products work together in tandem to help maximize the desired results.
How is treatment performed and how many treatments are required?
A small quantity of solution is injected directly into the muscles that are the cause of the prominent furrowing or expression lines. Typically several injections are given with each treatment, and one treatment is usually effective for 3-6 months. Each patient metabolizes Botox at different rates so the treatment may last longer or may not last as long.
How long do the results of Botox last?
Botox lasts for 3 to 6 months. When the effect of Botox wears off or diminishes, the muscles that contribute to these facial expression lines again become active, treatment can again be administered.
How does the skin appear after Botox?
Immediately after treatment the skin appears normal as there may be some redness and swelling at the treated sites. Occasionally, there can be mild bruising. If present, these changes resolve within a few hours to days. The skin feels normal and there is no unusual sensation.
When can I expect to see results after treatment?
Within 48 hours after treatment reduction in the muscle activity can be noticed. About one week after treatment the maximal benefit is attained and continues for a few months.
Are there any limitations after treatment?
Yes. Refrain from touching the area of treatment for at least 1 hour. By pushing on the area that was treated you may cause a negative effect. Immediately after treatment you may resume all normal activities.
Is there any discomfort with treatment?
There is usually mild discomfort at the injection sites. This only lasts for a few seconds.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Rarely. If Botox should affect an adjacent muscle, it too may have reduced activity. This has been reported in about one percent of those treated and if this does develop, the most common change is eyelid drooping. However, any such unwanted muscle relaxation would also be temporary. There are no reports of any injury to the eye when Botox? is administered to the muscles of the forehead.
Can Botox cause botulism?
No. Extraordinarily small amounts of Botox are administered. These quantities are insufficient to cause botulism or any related symptoms.

Radiesse
return to the top
(These images are of an actual patient) |
Infinity Medical Spa is pleased to offer Radiesse to our patients. FDA approved in December 2006, Radiesse is a type of dermal filler, providing long lasting correction of facial lines and wrinkles.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a safe, next-generation cosmetic dermal filler that is setting a new standard for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles. Years of rigorous clinical studies prove that Radiesse lasts longer than the former leading filler, to safely fill and correct smile lines, nasolabial folds, and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Radiesse is made of unique, calcium-based Radiesse microspheres, suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, and minimally invasive procedure. Simply put, Radiesse treatments deliver a natural look that lasts.
How does Radiesse work?
Radiesse works below the skin's surface. Tiny calcium-based microspheres form a "scaffold" to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen to create a natural, full, youthful look. Radiesse does more than just temporarily fill-in facial lines and wrinkles-it rebuilds your skin's foundation, without the risks associated with permanent fillers.
Is Radiesse safe?
Yes. Over 250,000 patients have experienced Radiesse and more than 4,000 physicians have been trained to provide Radiesse treatments. Through years of rigorous industry and independent research worldwide, Radiesse has been shown to be safe and effective. With Radiesse, you get safe, clinically tested, FDA approved reliability.
Is Radiesse right for me?
If you are beginning to notice facial wrinkles, lines, and folds, you may be an excellent candidate for a Radiesse treatment.
Why "fill in" wrinkles with Radiesse?
Over time, tissue volume diminishes, leaving what is commonly seen as lines and wrinkles, including the deepening of nasolabial folds, accentuated smile lines (sometimes called "marionette lines"), fallen cheek pads, and sagging jaw lines. Radiesse can be injected into the skin in order to compensate or correct these areas. By using your body's ability to grow collagen and regenerate tissue, Radiesse produces natural looking results for a fresh, rested, healthy appearance that still looks like you.
How is a Radiesse treatment performed?
Radiesse is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, quick, and minimally invasive outpatient procedure. Typically administered in a doctor's office, with the use of a local anesthetic, Radiesse treatments have little to no downtime, with most patients returning to normal activities soon after treatment.
How soon can I expect results? How long will the results last?
The results are immediate. Radiesse continues to deliver results as it works with your body to stimulate new collagen and regenerate tissue. Results typically last from twelve to eighteen months. Since results may vary, be sure to discuss your expectations with your doctor.
How many treatments will I need?
Many patients will achieve their desired result after just one treatment. Because Radiesse is a longer-term cosmetic enhancement, and to ensure your satisfaction with the treatment, your physician might schedule a follow-up visit, where a touch-up treatment might be recommended.
Are there any side effects?
Normal, injection-related reactions such as mild irritation, edema, swelling, itching, discoloration, or tenderness at the injection site may occur. These conditions typically resolve within a few days and detailed discharge instructions will be provided to you and explained.
Could I have an allergic reaction to Radiesse?
Radiesse is biocompatible, meaning there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction. You do not need to undergo skin allergy testing, common in certain animal-based or permanent filler agents, prior to treatment. However, if you believe you are having an allergic reaction to Radiesse, seek medical attention immediately.
Is Radiesse permanent?
No. Treatment results are relatively long-lasting, but not permanent. Over time, the tiny calcium-based microspheres gradually break down into basic calcium and phosphate ions which are safely and naturally absorbed into your body, leaving your own collagen in their place.

|
Obagi
return to the top
Infinity Medical Spa is pleased to offer the Obagi system to our patients.
Why should I use all the products in the system?
Each Obagi system is specifically designed to work together as a system. When used as a system, the formulas work together to effectively balance the pH level and penetrate ingredients to the layers of the skin-revealing superior results. As always, please follow the individual protocol designed by your physician or skincare specialist.
Why are the Obagi system products sold exclusively from physicians? Can the products be purchased on the Internet?
Obagi system skincare products are prescription strength formulations regulated by the U.S. FDA and can only be sold with a prescription through a physician. Obagi system does not endorse purchasing prescription products from the Internet without a written prescription.
What is the difference between the Obagi System products and the products purchased from department stores, drug stores, infomercials, etc?
Obagi system skincare products are prescription strength, or pharmaceutical quality products that work at the cellular level to improve the skin cell function. Products purchased from a retail store are cosmeceutical products. When applied, they do not correct skin cells; instead they "mask" the damaged skin only on the surface of the skin for a temporary period.
What does the Obagi Nu-Derm System do for aging skin?
As skin ages, just like the body, it loses the ability to properly renew itself. The Obagi Nu-Derm system is a prescription strength skincare system that is physician monitored to accelerate skin cell turnover so that it looks and acts younger and healthier.
How quickly will I see results when using the Obagi Nu-Derm System?
The prescribed protocol and frequency is determined by your individual skin condition. By carefully following your physician or skincare specialist's customized protocol, you can expect visible improvements in 4-6 weeks.
What can I expect while using the Obagi Nu-Derm System?
You may experience several phases of transformation. In the first phase, "Out With The Old," the system accelerates dead cell exfoliation, so expect flaking and peeling, revealing fresher, smoother skin. In the second phase, "In With The New," your skin will begin to build tolerance to peeling and flaking. During that time the system is working at the cellular level to continually transform skin cells. In the third phase, "Healthy Glow," histologically, collagen, and elastin are increasing production and skin will feel supple and resilient. Uneven color and pigmentation begin to even out. In the fourth phase, "The New You," you keep your skin looking and acting younger and healthier.
Why is Vitamin C important?
A: Vitamin C belongs to an important group of antioxidants, which fight the free radicals that age the skin. Studies have shown topical Vitamin C in the most effective form (L-ascorbic acid) can help improve sun protection, repair sun damaged skin, reduce fine lines, stimulate collagen building, and potentially reduce discoloration of the skin.

About Laser Hair Removal
return to the top
|
Laser technology nows offers a gentle, long lasting and non invasive solution to unwanted hair. Virtually any area can be treated, certainly the most common areas are the legs, underarms, bikini line, face and neck. At Infinity Medical Spa we have chosen to offer the latest in laser technology, MeDioStar XT, that offers safe and effective hair removal for all skin types, including darker skin tones.
Frequently asked questions about Laser Hair Removal:
How does hair grow?
Hair forms in a pouch-like structure below the skin called a hair follicle. What we see as hair is actually the hair shaft, which is the keratinized, hardened tissue that grows from this follicle.
The best hair color for the laser light to target is dark blond to black. With advancements in technology we can now treat patients with blond, white, or even gray hair. The laser specialist will explain more during your consultation.
Everyone's hair grows differently, depending on age, weight, metabolism, hormones, ethnicity, medications, and other factors. But all hair goes through three distinct growth phases:
- Active growth phase (called the anagen phase), which can last up to 3 months. At any given time,20-30% of our body hair is in this phase. During anagen, the hair has an abundance of melanin and that is the key target for the laser light. To get the maximum result 5 treatments are generrally required to acheive 90-95% permanent hair reduction.
- Regressive phase (catagen phase), which lasts about 3 days, during which the hair stops growing but is not yet shed. About 3 - 4% of our body hair is in this phase at any given time. Many patients report that hair starts to shed immediatly, and can be found on a towel following a shower. We recommend not waxing, tweezing or using any methods to remove the hairs following your laser treatments.
- Resting phase (telogen phase), which lasts 4-14 days, at the end of which the hair falls out and a new hair begins to form. Following the laser treatment the hair appears to still grow. These hairs are in fact club (dead) hairs and within 3-4 weeks the new hair from another active growth phase will begin to grow out of the same hair shaft. Remember that even though the hair is growing out of the same hair shaft, the follicle growing is new and is now ready for the laser light.
|
The MeDioStar most effectively disables hair that is in the active growth (anagen) phase. If we get all of the active hairs each treatment that is generally 30 days apart, you would have disabled 20-30% of all hair follicles. Because all the hair in a treated area may not be in the anagen phase, more than one laser treatment is necessary to remove the hair that subsequently enters the growth phase. Our goal after 5 treatments is to have sustained 90-95% permanent hair reduction.
How does the Laser Hair Removal work?
A laser produces a single beam of highly concentrated light. Different types of lasers produce different colors of light.
The light emitted by the laser is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) located in hair follicles, melanin pigments give hair its color, and hair shaft. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment in the hair follicle- disabling several hair follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair's regrowth - but not long enough to damage the surrounding skin. The MeDioStar's special contact-cooling hand piece further protects the epidermis (upper layer of skin). This patented method of epidermal preservation allows delivery of more laser energy deeper into the hair follicle. The size of the coverage per laser pulse is roughly the size of a 50 cent piece.
Additionally, the MeDioStar is able to treat a broader range of skin types than most other hair-removal lasers. It is delicate enough for a woman's fine, sensitive skin and robust enough for a man's beard, back, or arms
Laser Hair Removal effectively removes unwanted body hair. Traditional techniques such as shaving, plucking and waxing, provide only temporary relief and may actually stimulate hair growth. Electrolysis, while effective, often requires years of ongoing and frequently painful treatments. All of these methods commonly result in scarring, allergic reactions, and ingrown hairs.
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment inside the hair follicle without damaging delicate pores and structures of the skin. Because hair cycles through "growth" and "dormant" phases, and because during the "dormant" phase the follicle has no pigment, at least 3-5 treatments will be needed.
What does the treatment involve?
The patient is asked to wear eye protection. The area to be treated is then shaved. A small hand piece, or "wand" is placed against the skin and a burst of coolant is applied as the laser is activated. The hand piece is repositioned and the laser is activated again. The size or the area treated will determine the number of laser activations, or "pulses", required.
What are the advantages over electrolysis?
With electrolysis, the operator inserts a needle into the hair shaft with the intention of reaching the follicle, then sends a small electrical charge designed to disable the follicle. The operator then removes that particular hair with a tweezer. Hair removal is much faster with a laser as the laser is pulsed about once per second across the surface of the skin. Each "pulse" of laser light disables a large numbers of hair follicles. Electrolysis operators can only treat those hairs that they can see and which they can reach the follicle through the hair shaft. A laser treats any "active" follicle, even if the hair has not yet reached the surface of the skin, or if the hair shaft is not straight.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions will vary for each individual. During the initial visit, the laser light disables those follicles in the "active" phase of the growth cycle. Follicles in the "dormant" phase will not be affected. Since follicles cycle through "active" and "dormant" phases, additional sessions may be desired once the "dormant" follicles become "active". For this reason, we recommend a series of Five treatments.
Is the laser treatment painful?
While some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, most patients report little or no discomfort. For more sensitive patients, anesthetic creams can be applied prior to the treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Immediately after the treatment the skin will look pink and slightly swollen, similar to a sunburn. This will subside within 72 hours and the skin will return to normal. Occasionally, a patient will have temporary pigment changes, blistering, or scabbing. In the unlikely event of blistering, we recommend keeping the area moist with bacitracin.
As with electrolysis, cases of scarring have been reported, but these are extremely rare. A test spot is the best determinant of how each individual's skin will react.

About Laser Skin Rejuvenation
return to the top
|
Laser Skin Rejuvenation is the latest technology in non-ablative (woundless) collagen building. Infrared light is used to gently and painlessly heat the upper and mid portions of the dermis where collagen is located. This localized heating triggers an inflammatory process that tricks the body into producing new collagen. This neo-collagen gradually reduces and softens wrinkles and gives skin a younger and fresher look. Improvement is gradual and becomes noticeable after two to three months, although collagen production will continue to occur for up to 12 months. This type of treatment has multiple applications.
It can be used for:
- wrinkle reduction
- treatment of active acne
- acne scar revision
- treatment of stretch marks
|
The treatment is painless, and normal activities can be resumed immediately. Treatments are provided in a series of sessions, usually at four-week intervals. To maintain this long-lasting improvement, follow-up care may include bi-annual maintenance sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How is Laser Skin Rejuvenation different from other anti-aging treatments?
Laser Skin Rejuvenation is unlike any other skin resurfacing treatment. Your skin is not subjected to harsh chemicals or the sometimes intense after-care of other facial rejuvenation procedures. Patented technology protects the sensitive surface layers of your skin, allowing the laser light to penetrate to a deeper level and stimulate new collagen growth.
Will I be uncomfortable during the treatment?
Certain areas are naturally more sensitive than others, however because we use a constant cooling contact handpiece our patients report very minimal discomfort. Topical anesthetic is also available for extra sensitive areas.
What is a constant cooling contact handpiece?
It is a device that is used to cool, in conjunction with the laser, to cool the skin, protect the epidermis (outer skin layer) and help transfer the thermal energy of the layer to its true target: the dermis. The end result is a much more comfortable patient with excellent results.
What if my skin tone is dark, am I a candidate for Laser Skin Rejuvenation?
Absolutely! All skin types/tones can be treated.
How long does the treatment take?
On the average treatments take between 15 and 30 minutes. Once your treatment is done you can reapply your makeup immediately and be on your way as usual.
How long is the recovery time?
There is no long recovery time. Just younger looking skin.
How long will the results last?
Improvement is gradual and becomes noticeable after 2-3 months, although collagen production will continue for up to 12 months. To maintain this long-lasting improvement, follow up care may include a bi-annual maintenance program.

About Laser Vein Treatment
return to the top
|
Laser Vein treatment is a proven therapy for treating unsightly broken and dilated vessels as well as other unwanted vascular lesions, such as rosacea, port wine stains and other vascular birthmarks. With the use of a highly selective laser, that is only attracted to the hemoglobin contained in blood vessels, the target vein is destroyed without causing damage to surrounding structures. This type of treatment is targeted and efficient , providing reliable and reproducible results. Infinity Medical Spa is proud to offer the latest in laser technology insuring a safe, fast and more effective method of Laser Vein Treatment. We feature the Viridis Derma laser which emits a green laser light. Selectively absorbed by hemoglobin, the 532 nm (green) light of the Viridis Derma will heat and destroy the vessel wall while sparing surrounding structures. Its scanning device allows for quick and safe treatment of larger lesions, such as Rosacea. Improvement is gradual and optimal results can take up to eight weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Vein Treatment:
How does Laser Vein Treatment work?
Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that is passed through the skin and is preferentially absorbed by its target, be it unwanted hair, birthmark, tattoo, or in this case, the hemoglobin in the unwanted blood vessels. The laser causes the vein to break up and disappear.
What can I expect during the procedure?
Some patients have described the feeling to that of a rubber band snap. You may be given a topical anesthetic cream if you desire, to numb the area. Cool compresses can also be applied post procedure to ease any discomfort. Since there is no down time, you may return to your usual activities immediately.
How soon will I see results?
Since the unwanted vein will need to break up and dissolve, resolution will take place over several weeks.
What are the side effects of Laser Vein Treatment?
Side effects are minimal and are generally limited to a slight redness of the skin which should not persist for more than a few hours. In very rare cases slight bruising has been reported near the area treated, which has also resolved within a few days of the treatment.
Is Laser Vein Treatment permanent?
Yes, it is permanent. However, if you are prone to spider veins it will not prevent new spider veins from developing.
What areas of the body can be treated?
All areas of the body can be treated, but the most common ones are the face and legs.

About Mesotherapy
return to the top
|
Mesotherapy is a procedure that involves a series of small, relatively painless, injections just below the skin which act to mobilize and melt away fat. Target areas are typically areas that are noticeably problematic such as the buttock, abdomen, waist, thighs, and under the arms. Mesotherapy works exceptionally well on cellulite as well. Usually, multiple small injections are given during each visit, and treatments vary from 5 to 10 visits depending on how extensive the area being treated is. The concept behind Mesotherapy involves a combination of medications, such as vitamins, supplements and other drugs, which mobilize and burn away fat. Many physicians agree that fat is mobilized to muscle tissue which then expedites the fat burning process.
As seen on "48 Hours", "20/20", and "Good Morning America" Mesotherapy is now available in the United States. Most people find that they have certain localized areas of fat deposits, and believe that if these areas were eliminated, their body image, as well as their self esteem, would greatly improve. These areas typically occur in the abdomen, buttock, "love handles," "saddle bags," hips, thighs, under the arms, as well as the chin and face.
Mesotherapy is a treatment which originated in France by Dr. Pistor and has been performed there since 1950 with enormous success. There are over 15,000 physicians practicing Mesotherapy around the world. Only in the past 5 years or so has this procedure become available in the United States. Currently, there are only a handful of physicians in the United States who have received expert training and are qualified to perform Mesotherapy.
Frequently Asked Questions about Mesotherapy:
How many treatments are necessary to create the desired effect?
Treatment will naturally vary depending on many factors such as the size of the area being targeted. Thinner patients with problem areas suck as "love handles" or "saddle bags" may require fewer treatments. Typically, however, patients require between 6 to 10 visits. Many patients are pleased with their results even after the first visit. The effects are progressive and more noticeable results are achieved as the treatments go on.
How is Mesotherapy different than Liposuction?
Mesotherapy is significantly different than liposuction. For one, Mesotherapy is not a surgical procedure and general anesthesia is not needed. Mesotherapy is a simple, outpatient procedure, with no recovery time. Other than the obvious differences in performing the procedure, the results are also significantly different. While liposuction actually removes fat cells, Mesotherapy removes the fat from within the fat cell. This contributes to the natural appearance in which Mesotherapy shines. If one gains weight after Mesotherapy, the fat will simply return to the treated area, unlike liposuction, where fat can migrate to places where there were no problems before.
How long will I experience the benefits of Mesotherapy?
The procedure can be permanent provided a healthy diet is followed. If fat does return, it should return in an even fashion, unlike liposuction which often does not. Areas can be retreated as needed. After receiving treatment for cellulite and fat, maintenance should be performed at 6 months to 1 year.
What are the side effects?
The procedure is very safe. Bruising may occur afterwards, but usually subsides within a few days to a week. Specific vitamins and creams can help minimize the potential for bruising.
When will I be able to return to work?
Since there is no down time, you can return immediately after the procedure. The procedure itself takes less than 30 minutes and there is no recovery time.
Are these treatments painful?
Patients have described mild discomfort. The needle itself is extremely thin, similar to an insulin needle. Patients do not experience severe discomfort during the procedure.
Take advantage of our free consultation and see if you are a good candidate for Mesotherapy treatment.

About Microdermabrasion
|
Microdermabrasion is performed in our office and requires no anesthesia. Using a precision hand piece that directs a stream of very fine, chemically inert crystals and mild suction where needed on the skin, the gently abrasive action exfoliates the outermost layers of the skin. Our highly trained skin care specialists/consultants can control the power of the spray, from a gentle buffing of the skin to deeper exfoliation where needed. At a medium power, microdermabrasion might be compared to results similar to those of a light TCA peel. A full-face treatment generally takes 20 to 40 minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions about Microdermabrasion:
What results can you expect?
Following the treatment, your skin may appear lightly pink, but there is no oozing or obvious redness. Some patients say their face feels as if their skin has been deep cleansed. Similar to a light peel, the procedure can improve fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage and Uneven skin tone. It treats Blackheads and whiteheads, pigmentation(brown spots), and give the skin a healthy-looking glow. It may be used in conjunction with a light chemical peel or laser facial treatment.

About Laser Acne Therapy
return to the top
|
Laser Acne Therapy, the first FDA approved drugless treatment for acne that actually addresses its cause and has shown impressive results without the pain, expense or side effects associated with traditional over-the-counter and prescription treatments.
That's right, there is now a simple FDA approved, drugless treatment for your acne which utilizes medical lasers to attack the acne at its source without the side effects associated with prescription and some over-the-counter treatments.
This non-surgical acne treatment works by the use of laser-emitting beams of invisible light which pulsate through the layers of the skin and are absorbed by the oil-producing sebaceous glands themselves.
Here the light is converted to a gentle heat, a process comparable to what happens inside a car that has been sitting in the sun. As the sun shines in, the light is absorbed by the interior structures such as the seats, steering wheel and dashboard. The light is then converted to heat, making them warm to the touch.
This process is similar to what happens within the oil-producing glands of the treated area; the invisible light is converted to heat, temporarily disabling and reducing the size of the glands that cause the acne. Thanks to recent advances in laser technology, this is possible without harming or irritating the surrounding skin!
Additionally, the thermal effect produced by this process also kills the bacteria found within the clogged pores while decreasing the oil production at its source, thus substantially reducing the number of acne blemishes!
Furthermore, since the treatments can be specifically administered to the affected areas only, the skin maintains its overall moisture, thereby preventing the dryness and subsequent increased oil production that often occurs with topical acne skin care treatments.
This Laser Treatment Can Also Stimulate New Collagen Formation, Thus Healing Acne Scars As Well!
The same laser energy level used to treat your acne also works in elevating depressed or pitted acne scars. Laser Acne Therapy achieves this by penetrating the dermal layer of the skin and producing new dermal collagen to elevate the depression. In a short period of time, as this new collagen begins to build up, the appearance of the scar will lessen and eventually fade away with time!
So instead of just dealing with your acne scars, which serve as a constant reminder of your previous bouts with acne, you can now take a stand and do something about it! Two other complimentary options for acne treatment are: chemical peels and microdermabrasion.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Who Can Be Treated With Laser Acne Therapy?
This proven medical procedure can help both adolescent and adult acne and acne scars. It also can be used to treat both men and women with all skin types and colors. However, pregnant women and people with photo sensitivities should consult with their physician first.
Do I Need To Prepare My Skin Before Having Laser Acne Therapy?
Yes. The area to be treated should be cleaned with a gentle soap, then rinsed with water and dried. Women should remove their makeup before treatment sessions, and should only wear oil-free make-up between appointments. Make-up can be re-applied immediately after the treatment session is finished.
How Long Is Each Treatment and How Many Are Necessary?
Each treatment takes approximately 15-20 minutes to perform and the number of treatments needed varying, depending on the severity of your acne or acne scars. On average though, acne treatment required 4-5 sessions administered two weeks apart, with acne scar correction requiring a series of approximately the same number of visits but given 4 weeks apart.
Consumer beware:
With each treatment, a reduction in the number of blemishes and an improvement of the appearance of your scars occur. Once your acne is significantly improved or clears, periodic treatment is recommended to keep the acne from re-appearing. Acne scar maintenance treatments are recommended once every 6 months.
Remember that your acne or acne scars took time to appear; similarly, your body's ability to resolve the problem takes time as well.
Are The Treatments Painful and Are There Any Side Effects?
Laser Acne Therapy is usually not painful and does not require anesthesia. Some patients may experience a slight burning or tingling sensation at the individual laser treatment sites, lasting only a few seconds. For people with extremely sensitive skin, a topical anesthetic can be used over the treatment area before the actual laser treatments are administered. There are no known side effects.
Is The Treatment Permanent?
Unfortunately, as of yet, there is no "cure" for acne. The reason is we cannot change our genetics or completely remove the oil from our skin (and if we could we wouldn't want to because of its many important functions). However, Laser Acne Therapy, the first FDA approved drugless treatment for acne, is a step in the right direction! Laser therapy effectively clears 70%-90% of moderate inflammatory acne in four to six weeks. Results are especially impressive when compared with conventional treatments, such as topical creams and oral antibiotics. Since the treatment can now address the cause of your acne at its source, outbreaks can effectively be controlled for approximately 4-8 months; after that only occasional touch-ups may be necessary!
What Can I Do To Help Prevent New Acne Formation?
Although /Laser Acne Therapy/ treats acne at the source leaving you with clearer looking skin, there are still some things you should do to assist your body with the healing process and promote healthy skin. They are as follows:
- Wash your face two times a day and as soon as possible after you exercise, with a gentle soap. Since bacteria can grow on a damp washcloth, it is important to use a fresh one everyday.
- To help control bacteria transfer, wash your hands more frequently and avoid putting your fingers and hands to your face unnecessarily. Additionally, avoid resting your face on your hands while you read, study, or watch TV.
- Although greasy foods or chocolate do not cause acne, if a certain food produces an allergic acne reaction avoid it at all costs!
- Since stress can decrease our body's immune response and slow down healing, practice stress-reduction strategies such as exercise and meditation.
- Avoid getting sunburned.
- Eat right and get plenty of sleep - proper diet and rest will keep your immune system strong to fight acne-forming bacteria.
- Don't squeeze or scratch your skin pimples; this can lead to scar formation.
|
Remember, although these measures are the best defense against the spread or development of new acne they still cannot alter the /cause/, nor can you change your genetics. Therefore, as time passes, you may find that you need "touch-ups" if new acne surfaces.
Are There Other Procedures To Help My Acne?
Yes, Medical Microdermabrasion, chemical peels, combined with a few medical grade products. These are supplementary, showing great additive effects.

Restylane
return to the top
About Restylane
|
Restylane is a long-lasting and crystal-clear gel for filling out lips, facial wrinkles and facial folds. Thanks to Q-Med's stabilization process the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is almost identical to that naturally found in the body and only very slightly modified (0.5 - 1%). Other hyaluronic acid based, injectable implants are often modified by about 20%.
Frequently Asked Questions:
WHAT IS RESTYLANE?
It is a gel that is injected under the skin in order to add volume and lift up the lips, wrinkles and folds. Restylane consists of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already present in the skin. Once in the skin, Restylane works together with the body's own hyaluronic acid and join forces to create volume.
WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
Some of the functions of hyaluronic acid in the body are creating volume to the skin, giving the eye its shape and lubricate joints.
HOW IS RESTYLANE PRODUCED?
The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is, in contrast to other similar substances, not produced from animals. This means no risk for adverse events.
WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
The most common areas are the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips but also other sites can be treated. Very superficial or very deep wrinkles may be difficult to correct. Please consult your physician for a judgment.
WHICH RESULT CAN BE OBTAINED FROM A LIP-TREATMENT?
The vermilion border can be accentuated and the lips can be given more volume.
WHAT IS TREATMENT WITH RESTYLANE LIKE?
A Restylane treatment is a very easy and quick process. Since no skin testing is needed, the treatment can be made immediately and it takes about 30 minutes. The result is instant. Restylane is injected with a very thin needle under the skin. The same needle used for Botox is used for Restylane injections.
DO THE INJECTIONS HURT?
It is very individually depending on how pain sensitive you are. The injections may prick a little but normally, no anesthesia is needed for treatment of wrinkles and folds. Most people report that the injections are relatively painless. A lip treatment can be uncomfortable and therefore, a nerve block is normally made.
CAN THE MATERIAL BE REMOVED?
No, but since Restylane is a natural material it dissolves with time. If you feel insecure about the wanted result, it is possible to make the treatment at different occasions.
IS IT DANGEROUS?
Restylane is a safe product. Since hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body, the skin does not react to the material. With over 100,000 people treated today, only a very small number of reactions have been reported. These reactions may consist of prolonged but temporary redness, swelling, itching or tenderness. Most have lasted for a couple of weeks.
HOW WILL MY SKIN LOOK AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Immediately after the treatment, there may be a slight redness, swelling, tenderness or itching sensation at the treated are This is only normal cause of the injection and the inconvenience is temporary, it generally goes away in 72 hours. After a lip treatment, the lips may get swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist for a several days (up to a week).
HOW LONG IS THE EFFECT?
Restylane eventually totally disappears out of the body. How long the effect of a Restylane treatment lasts is very individual. It depends on many factors such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the individual. For the majority of the patients after a wrinkle treatment about 50-80% of the effect remains after 6 months and most people choose to have a touchup treatment done within a year of the original treatment. For lip augmentation, a new treatment is needed after about 6 months.
HOW WILL MY SKIN LOOK WITHOUT "TOUCHUP" TREATMENTS?
The correction will gradually disappear until your skin looks like it did before the treatment. Touchup injections will help you maintain your correction.

Photo Rejuvenation
return to the top
ABOUT PHOTO REJUVENATION
Photo rejuvenation is a revolutionary skin rejuvenation treatment. It is the use of light, in several different ways, to produce younger and healthier looking skin. At Infinity Medical Spa we utilize both the Prolite II, which is intense pulsed light, and the recently FDA approved Omnilux, which utilizes "safe light" and is especially effective on acne.
The remarkable results seen with Photo rejuvenation treatment include:
- reversal of UV Skin Damage caused by sun exposure
- removal of red and brown skin discoloration (especially age spots on the face, chest, and hands), resulting in a more even skin tone
- removal of fine wrinkles
- increased collagen buildup, leading to more supple skin
- smoother skin texture, making makeup application much easier and more uniform
- acne treatment
|
ABOUT INTENSE PULSED LIGHT
This exciting technology involves the use of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to affect multiple targets within the skin. Multiple flashes of light are controlled through a sophisticated system of filters and electronic technology to treat a variety of conditions, including:
- Rosacea
- Vascular disorders (telengectasias, spider veins)
- Lentigo (age spots or liver spots)
- Poikiloderma
- Acne
|
The Prolite II is not a laser - it uses a series of intense flashes of light to increase collagen formation, break-up pigment in the epidermis and remove superficial blood vessels. When used in conjunction with microdermabrasion, it leads to even smoother skin, a more even skin tone, less fine wrinkles, and healthier skin. Ask us about combining these therapies!
Frequently asked questions:
How does the treatment work?
An intense light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat causes damage to the vessel or lesion, and the body begins its natural healing process. The lesion will darken before it flakes off or the body absorbs it.
How many treatments will I need?
For optimal results , a series of four treatments are recommended. Follow up treatments may be desired once a year to maintain results.
What can I expect during the treatment?
Treatments vary from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. First, the area is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to a snap of a rubber band. Topical anesthetic is available for maximal comfort. After the treatment, the gel is removed,, the skin is once again cleansed and a sunscreen is applied. For those with sensitive skin a cool compress is applied following treatment.
Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are rare. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear flushed; brown pigmented spots may appear darker; and capillaries may be initially more visible. In rare cases temporary swelling and/or blistering has been reported. Intense Pulsed light is not a treatment for everyone and your doctor will discuss this with you at the time of your free consultation. At Infinity Medical Spa we want our patients to receive treatments that are best for them, providing each patient with a safe and satisfying experience.
Is there something the Intense Pulse Light (IPL) used in Photo Rejuvenations should not be used for?
Yes! We do not use this therapeutic modality for hair removal. A 2005 Study by the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) demonstrated that Intense Pulse Light is clearly inferior to Diode lasers (such as the Mediostar XT found exclusively at Infinity Medical Spa) when used for hair removal. Many cosmetic medicine physicians are of the opinion that IPL can require up to twice as many treatments for similar hair removal results as diode laser hair removal. At Infinity Medical Spa, we believe in using Intense Pulse Light for the problems it is most effective for-not for hair removal.
ABOUT OMNILUX
|
Omnilux delivers a totally natural method of light-only skin rejuvenation which uses the body's own natural processes to help counteract the effects of aging. The aging of our skin is a complex biological process, but can be broken down into two main causes: chronological aging- the effect of time on our bodies; and photo-aging - the effect of the sun's harmful rays. The Omnilux stimulates your skin to naturally rejuvenate itself! Also a very powerful and safe tool against acne, Omnilux stimulates your skin's natural chemicals to neutralize the bacteria and inflammation responsible for acne. Recently FDA approved this is an ideal treatment for both teens and adults. The treatment is quick, painless, noninvasive and without down time. It provides a wonderful alternative to oral and topical acne medications as well as strong prescription drugs such as Accutane and antibiotics.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What type of skin rejuvenation can I expect from a "safe light" treatment like the Omnilux provides? You will see softening of fine lines and wrinkles as well as improvement in your skin's overall softness and smoothness.
Is it safe?
The scientifically designed light source does not have harmful UVA or UVB. You will experience a feeling of relaxation and well-being during and after the treatment.
Is it painful?
Not at all, because there is no heat involved!
What actually happens during the treatment?
You will be asked to remove any makeup or sunblock before the treatment and you will also be asked to wear safety goggles during the treatment. The light will be positioned close to your face and you will be treated for 20 minutes. After that you are free to leave and go about your day as usual.
What difference will I see in my acne with "safe light" treatments like the Omnilux provides?
Optimum results will be seen between 4-8 weeks after treatment. While some studies have shown complete clearing of lesions, on average you should expect 70% of the lesions to clear when using blue light alone and over 80% when using blue and red light together. Depending upon the type of acne you have, you may be advised to use a face wash and gel containing salicylic acid. How many treatments will I need?
Typically eight treatments over four weeks provide excellent results, but this may be adjusted based on your needs which will be determined at your free consultation.
Omnilux can be used after microdermabrasion, facial peels and laser and Intense Pulsed Light therapy, reducing the side effects and speeding up the time your tissue takes to regenerate. It can also be used in conjunction with your regular facial treatments and with injections such as Botox and fillers, helping to maintain the effect of the treatment.
